Scammers
1. Many sellers, especially in the US, started offering Poltava sharpening stones with thickness 1.5 mm and do not giving this information in product description, so buyer believes he purchases right stone with standard abrasive thickness of 3 mm. Scammers even leave negative feedback for honest sellers to get rid of competition. Please review sample issue at the bottom of this page.
To be sure you buy right sharpening stone, look trough stone’s passport, which contains:
– stone dimensions, usually on top right: the last number (3 or 1.5) is thickness.
– weight of abrasive in standard stone 150×25 mm, 100% concentration, is 50 cts.(middle left), while for 1.5 mm stone it’s only 25 cts.
– PDT’s stones with thickness of 1.5 mm should be marked as “Lite”, e.g.: Premium Lite (metal bond sharpening stones), Expert Lite (resin bond sharpening stones), but it’s not common.
2. ECONOMY STONES were designed as cost saving solution with quality, comparable to competitive products (that’s why they are marked “Premium”, as PDT’s stones). Nevertheless many sellers sell them as standard products, so buyer believes he buys Premium Poltava product No, these stones are not premium products, and they were not made by Poltava factories.
